Life of a river

Thoughts emerge as water from a river source. A point, initially, becomes the sea at the end. The journey is what makes it most important. A child is a point thought. Each and every thing is new and good. Learning starts by sensing, the feelings and the ambiance. The emotions(outcome of thoughts) are hedged to crying and smiling either due to fear or food. The mother inculcates everything, whether it is hard stones that are in the path of emergence of the baby river or the path to traverse. She builds the power in the stream by providing slopes. The noisy stream is full of life and is difficult to stop. The mother enjoys the delight but nails hard stones to make it slow and calm. The thoughts gradually become profound and they take the shape of intelligence and logics. The stream is now getting slower and more serene, and becoming river. The broad and prodigious waters are now moving slowly and composedly. The depth has increased. Intelligence is now more subtle and ingrained. Its more of cognizance and vastness than just being juvenescent. Now the emotions are not restricted to the personal grief or longing. They are attached to all the living and non living things of the world. Now the river is personal but for all. The outcome of emotions is not a chuckle or despair . Its calm and a sign of learning, the learnings from the path traversed. The river progresses, sometimes gets polluted and then cleans itself. Thoughts too require refreshing and introspection from time to time. They do not change but modify and become potent. The dilapidated strings sunder and the neoteric thoughts meld.

River is reaching the mouth of delta. It had been an aeon when it was a nascent stream. Now, the horizon seems endless. It spreads its shoulders to infinity. There becomes not one but thousands of small rivers all excited to assimilate in the vast sea. It is free from all the thoughts. Its on the verge to become infinite depth. The cognizance is slowly dying. The depth is not increasing but has spread to many rivers on the land. The entire delta is fertile to bear the best in the world. Thoughts have finally ceased to a point. The point is now diminishing and the cycle completes.

hmmmm....so philosophy or sprituality..whatever it may be but this is the crux of life.

And when life is flowing down hill that potent energy is fun ... but on plains the calmness is bliss.

Human life so beautifully compared with the river...A point ends in a point, completing a circle...such is our life too!
This philosobhical blog explains an undisputed truth of life. Keep up this good work.

Nice. Had the analogy been with the life of a tree, I wud say , unlike a river, a tree ceases to bear fruits and give its shadows once it becomes old , and over a period of time ceases to exist. I wonder how gifts of nature are so different in their purpose.
To me it seems..........thoughts flow like a river, spread like a tree.

Hi,

Its an awesome article to read. It depicts the whole cycle of life to death to beyond.

There is so much beauty to the quality of water that we often do not perceive. It cleanses and purifies everything that comes to it. It is ready to accept the dirt of others, and is yet very happy to accept it on itself.

I really liked the comparison of the quality of water to human emotions. Emotions are good in the raw stage - they teach us spontaneity/ reaction-power. However, they make us too attached to things which aren't really our own.

But yea, in terms of the physical river, it is "for all" right from beginning to the very end, giving all its way and receiving whatever comes its way. How true it is for humans, is a question, we need to ask ourselves.

Great article! I am looking forward to read more such articles.

In reply to the previous post, i would like to say that a tree indeed may seem useless when it becomes old....but it still is of use to others. The fuel that runs millions of power plants, indeed comes from the trees that were old and died millions of years ago. So they have a continuing impact on others and will be forever....Isn't that truly amazing? How a "non-living" thing also adds meaning and purpose to our lives and we never realize its importance...

True that a river bears the same identity from beginning to end, but it changes. No matter how hard a river, or say, human mind, tries to clean itself, it cant return to its purest state.

it depends on your idea of purity...human mind can always "attempt" to reach that state of purity....like a river can always attempt to meet the sea..but once it meets the sea, it attains all attributes of the sea - its purity too!...so the quality of purity is not necessarily something which is under the control of the river alone...

Hello Deep,
I liked your article - concept, composition and crux!

In this life of noise and intensity, perhaps we forget the bigger and simpler picture of life. We are so tuned into our daily routines that when we read such thoughts - first we feel good-calm (like river-water).. and then we start evaluating where are we now - Hills-plains-sea!!

But yes - your article made me read what I already knew but didnt really realize. I appreciate your thought for it reminds me of my way of living - simply follow your conscience. It may sound bookish - but it really keeps me running like the "River"!!

Once again - Cheers to your thoughts!!
